Thursday morning, April 23, 2009 Stark State College

Hi, Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my website. I'll be adding more information soon for victims and survivors to read or print out to help them.

Yesterday was truly awesome! I met so many wonderful people and sold and signed many books. It was great being back at Stark State too. Kathy K. at the bookstore is one- grand-lady! She has invited me back in October.

I was so blessed with the book sales, and can only hope that by whomever reads them, learns more about coercion, domestic violence, abuse, and so much more in my writings.

So many times when I have a signing, I an honored and privileged by listening to those who share their stories. Either it is them that experienced abuse and violence, or they know of someone who has. I hope my books help them somehow. That is my mission. I was also able to hand out literature too, plus bookmarks of course. Hopefully with the literature, they will gain the knowledge to get out of their situation and get a better life. They deserve it.

Tomorrow is the domestic violence workshop I will be attending. The D.V. collaborative group I am a part of, is putting it on, locally. So far we have approximately 140 people coming, which includes, law officers, lawyers, counselors, advocates, probation officers and more. It should be a great day of learning. The speakers are will talk on various subjects. I'm sure I will gain even more knowledge to share with my readers and the support group I conduct weekly.

Gotta go for now. Lots to do. Stay safe and be blessed. The weather is finally going to me warm and great!

Best regards,
Becky :)

Sunday morning, April 19, 2009

Greetings everyone,

What a great day at Border's Bookstore in Cuyahoga Falls! I sure met many friendly, interesting, and awesome people yesterday. I was thrilled I was able to sell books too! One fellow, Tom Ball, stopped by and we chatted about my books for a good while. He is one of the radio announcer for 91.3FM, The Summit, in Akron. He does the "Just Plain Folk" on Sunday at 3 p.m. and the "Bedtime Snack" at 11 p.m. A really nice fellow and he is considering doing a segment on the radio regarding my books. That will be so awesome!

I found the day enlightening, and rewarding, as I handed out literature on domestic violence, gave away bookmarks, and my fliers to prospective book buyers.

The store was pretty busy and that was surely a good sign people are buying and still reading.

Cyndi Grant and the staff were so helpful and friendly. What a great store. Cyndi has invited me back in October and I am looking forward to another book signing and sales then, so watch for it being posted when I will be returning.

I will be at Stark State College in North Canton on Wednesday. I'm also supposed to go up to Amherst Ohio on Tuesday night to do a television taping of my appearance at Roxy's Read and Remnants on May 9Th. Whoa! That will really be fun!

On Friday, I'm attending a "Domestic Violence Workshop" here in my area sponsored by our local Collaborative Group and other agencies. The speakers are going to be so informative and I'm looking forward to it to learn more. I'll also be manning the table with literature for those attending to take. I will have to print out many sheets of informative literature this week at work for the workshop.

Gotta go for now. Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe, enjoy the sunshine and wonderful warmer weather folks.

Until next time,
Becky :)

Sat. April 18, 2009-my email contact

Good Morning, folks,

Unfortunately, due to many porn and disgusting emails coming through my website via my email contact, my email contact will be removed temporarily. It just disgusts me. I believe they (the ones sending them) will get their comeuppance when the time comes.

I'm off to Border's this morning in Cuyahoga Falls. The sun is going to be shining all day and it will be a beautiful day!

Hope all is well with you and you are safe.

Have a great day and and a wonderful weekend!

I'll be back tomorrow morning with a re-cap of the Border's sales and signing!
Becky

Monday morning, April 13, 2009

Hello everyone,
I just didn't get a chance to blog this past week. So, I'm doing one this morning before I go into work.

Hope your Easter was a grand celebration and you had a wonderful day. I know of some women and children who did not have a good one as much as they tried to focus on the day and the meaning, they were not in their home. They had to leave in a hurry. They had to escape their abusive husband and daddy.

My father-in-law came down with the flu and a bad cold on Thursday so he didn't make it down for Easter. I told him when he is better we will have the "traditional Easter meal" when he is better. Poor guy. He sounded pretty rough and congested. I'll call him tonight after work to see how he is doing.

Some of the song birds are coming back. I saw and heard an Orchard Oriole on Saturday. Plus, I do believe the Rufus-Sided Towhee is back. I've been hearing the Bluebirds and their beautiful song. Spring is such a wonderful time of the year.

I've been trying to weed the walkway out front. The grass is so thick in my flower beds in some places, and the grass is so hard to pull out, but I'm making progress.

I'm sure looking forward to being back at Border's this coming Saturday in Cuyahoga Falls! The store is so nice and the employees are great people as is the Manager, Cyndi.

I'll try and post more later in the week. Gotta go for now! Thanks so much for stopping by, and refer my website to anyone who can use it for valuable information to help them deal with domestic violence and abuse.

Take care, be blessed, and stay safe.
Becky :)

Quiz: How is your relationship?-Take the quiz!

Hi, everyone. Thanks for stopping by. I'm posting a quiz for you or someone you know that may be in an abusive relationship.

Does your partner:
1. Embarrass you with bad names and put-downs?
2. Look at you or act in ways that scare you?
3. Control what you do, who you see or talk to, or where you go?
4. Stop you from seeing or talking to friends or family?
5. Take your money or Social Security, make you ask for money, or refuse to give you money?
6. Make all the decisions?
7. Tell you you're a bad parent or threaten to take away or hurt your children?
8. Act like the abuse is no big deal, or it's your fault, or even deny doing it?
9. Destroy your property or threatens to kill your pets?
10. Intimidate you with guns, knives, or other weapons?
11. Shove you, slap you or hit you?
12. Force you to drop charges?
13. Threatens to commit suicide?
14. Threatens to kill you?

If you have answered even one, you may be in an abusive relationship. If you need to talk, call: 1-800-799-7233 (National Domestic Violence Hot Line)or,
1-800-787-3224 (TTY FOR THE DEAF)

Let others know about this quiz. Seek help. Get out if you are in fear. (Fear: #1 reason victims do not leave.)There are many resouces to help you. Check your local Domestic Violence or Victim Assistance office.

The greatest gift a woman can give herself and her children is to get out of an abusive relationship. She or they do not in any way deserve abuse.
Abuse is a learned behavior. It can be unlearned. It is in any walk of life. If the abuser is willing to admit he is abusive, violent, and controlling, he must seek help and be willing to change. If not, he will remain the same. You cannot change him. You can only change you as to what you accept or are willing to put up with or die for.

My best to you,
Becky Conrad
