Thursday morning, March 30, 2006

Hi Folks,
Well, spring has arrived! At least yesterday and today, possibly tomorrow too! I love it! The birds were all singing this morning before 6 a.m. and it sounded wonderful. Although 30 degrees this morning wasn't quite spring temperature, but it is warming up nicely.
I started feeding the koi/goldfish the other day. Hubby and I are going to get the picnic table out tonight when he gets home and put in the backyard. That will say it is "Officially Spring!"

He even talked of plowing the garden, but it is suppose to thunderstorm later tomorrow night. Maybe he will do it tonight after he gets home from work.

The deer are still coming around. There were six of them last night.
I counted three frogs this morning in the pond. That is good. At least we did not lose all of them. I heard the "peepers" from across the road in the neighbor's pond last night too.

I made a trip to Virginia over the weekend. I met some people along the way on the PA turnpike. It was really, I believe, "God-planned." I first noticed them somewhere around Cambridge, O., and we were traveling about the same rate of speed for quite a few miles. After about two or more hours, traveling along, behind and in front of each other along the way, I finally waved at the driver. Then a little ways farther, they passed me and I smiled and waved at the woman sitting in the front seat. (They probably thought I was crazy or something, or was racking their brains as to who I was.)
After a while, I started to pass them, and I saw something white out of the corner of my eye. I looked over at their car and there was a little lady in the back seat holding up a sign that said, "Lunch?" I shook my head yes, gave her a thumbs up, and we all excited the turnpike at, I think, Breezewood. We met in the parking lot and went into the Denny's-The Boss, restuarant and had lunch together.
They were on their way to Mytle Beach to see a son, Tim, that was hit by a car while walking on a street a while back and he was still in a coma in a hospital there. I felt really bad for them that they had to deal with such a traumatic event in their lives.
So everyone out there that visits my website, say some prayers for this family and for Tim.

I am really enjoying working at the D.G. Market. It is really fun, and the time goes so quickly.

I better sign off now. I took the neighbor lady to get her hair permed, and she will be calling me soon to go and get her.

Have a great day!
Be Blessed!
Remember, "No one can ruin your life, only if you let them!" Be strong! Be safe.

Sunday morning-March 19, 2006

Good morning folks,

I love the fact that the days are getting longer, and some of the early morning sunrises have been awesome! This past week some deer have been in the yard around 6 a.m. Spring is coming up fast, tomorrow to be exact! March is always a crazy month weather-wise, though. (My crocus are blooming, daffodils are coming up, along with tulips, and the forsythia is starting to bud.)

Speaking of deer. They are beautiful creatures, but they can be so destructive. I have a lot of aluminum pie pans tied to some of my bushes (firebushes, azaeleas, etc.) in the back yard and some in the front of the house. (Not exactly spiffing up the neighborhood, but they are my bushes and I do not want the deer chewing on them!)It seems to help, although when the wind is strong, they do blow off and have to be gathered up and tied again. Probably in another month I will take them all down as the deer will be able to forage on the new shoots of grass.

Last night while hubby and I were eating supper, eight deer came to our garden area to feed on the cracked corn in the blue barrel. Yes, it does draw them in, but if we don't put it out, they gnaw on everything else around the yard and raid the bird feeders.

I am now officially in the working world again, besides my W.I.S.H. job on Mondays & Fridays, I am working part-time at a new local Market store! Yeah! I worked yesterday and it was a lot of fun. I am a cashier. I was able to see a lot of people I knew, and had not seen in a good while. I love working with the public. Besides my feet, my face hurt a little because I smiled so much yesterday it was incredible! Just kidding. I smile a lot anyway.

I had a nice surprise last night when I got home. Hubby had put supper together and all I had to do was stick it in the oven. He is so sweet! I told him last night while we were conversing in front of the fireplace in the basement, that until I get back into the routine of working 5-6 days a week again, cleaing the house may not be a top priority. He said, not to be concerned about it, he would help if I needed it. What a dear man!

My little finger is getting better. I am using a soft baseball to get the tendons stretched back to normal, and it is helping. Dr. L. said the chip, (which I can feel right past my knuckle) is just kind of floating around in there. He said the tendons will keep it in place. Let's hope so.

I am going to have my computer guy post some things on my website that I learned at the training seminar I went to Marth 8-10th. The seminar was for Facilitators, Advocates and Shelters working with women in the horrendous throws of abuse and domestic violence.

My car went on the blink again, so hubby and I are going in and pick it up this mornig after breakfast. Cars! What a pain they can be! I really need to get another one! Maybe with this new job, I can do that.

If you have not read Ann Rule's, "GREEN RIVER, RUNNING RED," do so. It is awesome! What a book! Another one is "WORTH MORE DEAD."

My best to you! Have a great week! Be blessed, and THINK SPRING!
Becky :)

early Sunday morning March 12, 2006

Hello everyone!
Goodness! I was awakened early this morning, 2:15 a.m. by a thunderstorm rolling through my area. The thunder and lightening was really loud! I heard many "cracks" and popped out of bed. I raised the window in the bedroom because I could hear water dripping loudly. I thought the spouting was overflowing, but it was just the heavy rain coming down. Once I am awake, it is hard for me to go back to sleep, so I snuggled with hubby a little while, and then heard the hail starting. Whenever I hear hail, it always makes me think of the movie "Twister!" Great movie, but scary! I've never seen a tornado, nor do I want to! So here I am doing my blog at 4:30 a.m. Actually I could have done it a lot earlier, but was checking emails and stuff first.

My finger is getting better, but still sore. I suppose "Mr. Arther (itis) will be setting in.

I was able to attend a 3-day workshop for Domestic Violence this past Wednesday through Friday. It was incredible. The trainers were so knowledgeable, and presented a thorough, enlightening, and informative workshop. My mind was reeling for three days with so much information they gave. Still is. Now I have to sort, catagorize, and put it to use for my work. One questions was addressed numerous times: Why does she stay? Actually, it should be: Why does he batter? So many times we put the blame on the victims/survivors, instead of where it should be...on the batterers!

As soon as I go through all my notes, I will post some more things on my website. Give me about a week.

I received the first 143 pages of my second book, and yesterday went through the pages and made the necessary corrections. I should receive more soon. It is moving right along. I will be posting the synopsis within a few days on my website.

I will make this short, as I believe another storm is coming through. I hear more thunder! So I will sign off for now.

Have a great day, a great week, and remember, spring is just around the corner!

Be blessed!

Becky :)

Wednesday morning, March 1, 2006

Hello Everyone!

Thanks so much for visiting my website! Please tell others about it, so they can get valuable information about Domestic Violence and abuse, and the help they so desperately need.

My finger is doing better. Actually, I took off the wrapping last night and I have a little more dexterity in it this morning as I am typing with the wrapping off. I will rewrap it later this morning, BEFORE I attempt to feed the outside dogs, just in case.

The weather is going to be a little warmer today. I am looking forward to it. I looked out the sliding glass door this morning, and saw three deer in the field next door. They come later in the evening now to feed from the barrel of cracked corn.

It is so nice that the mornings are lighter, and the evenings are getting longer. I love it. Soon I will be removing dead stuff from flower beds and starting the spring clean-up.

I received a call from the nurse at my family doctor's office. She said my liver levels have returned to normal! Yeah! They also sent me a copy of the results. Hmm. Wonder why my endocrinologist never did this?

Yesterday I filled out an application to Dollar General for part-time work. I asked the manager, (whom I have known for quite a few years,)if they hired old people? She laughed, as she is just a few years younger than me, and she said they did. Anyway, I will take it in this morning when I make a run to town to get a few things at the grocery store.

I don't want to give up my W.I.S.H. job, because it is so important to me, and I do feel I help some of the women going through the agony of domestic violence and abuse in their lives, if they are open to the help.

It takes time, and each one is on a different journey. Many decisions they have to make, (and I understand completely the overwhelming emotional rollar coaster they are on), makes it difficult to sort through so many emotions they are dealing with to make good, rational, and better decisions to have a better life for themselves. So many have such low self-esteem, and self-worth. So many want to fix their situation, and it is a hard thing to accept they just cannot fix their abuser, but have to fix themselves in order to have a bette life. It is so hard. My heart goes out to them every day.

Today is a day that the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it! Today is also the first day of Lent. I think I am going to give up CHOCOLATE for Lent. Oh, how I love chocolate! Is that a "woman thing?"

Gotta go. Lots to do today. Have a great day everyone, and thanks so much for visiting! Keep in touch! I love your emails and love to hear from you!

Have a blessed day! And, be good to yourself! You deserve it!
Becky :)
