Hi, Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by these past couple weeks! I have been so busy with so much!

The CCAPL had a hot dog stand last weekend, then today we have a membership drive and are selling dog and cat products we purchased, plus a 50/50 drawing. I'll be volunteering for that this morning until noon, then back home to mow the yard.

Hubby is buried with school work. He spends most of the time studying, driving (90 miles a day), and doing assignments. He is getting tired, poor fellow! His classes are extremely intense. He will finish up the day before school resumes! Not sure when he will get his room ready for teaching. Maybe the day after he's done with his school classes?

Tomorrow is my birthday! Just hard to believe I have reached this age! Where did the years go? Goodness. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, four terrific dogs, two silly cats, and a nice home. We have worked hard together to accomplish what we have and have been greatly blessed. I praise God for His wonderful blessings!

Next weekend will be my family reunion here. My brother, his girlfriend, his daughter, our Uncle and Aunt, our cousins, and our other Aunt will be here around 1 p.m. I'm looking forward to the visit and the cookout!

I've been taking some Mondays off at work this summer. The extra time is allowing me to get things done for the CCAPL and outside and inside work. Many projects to get done!

I've not had many book signings this summer as there have been too many other things to take care of. I do have two signings in November. I'll have my web guy post them soon.

Hubby patched the bullet hole. It will be interesting if we hear shooting in the distance. I'll call the police right away and they can check out the source. Maybe they'll be able to connect the dots as to who's bullet hit our house!

Hi, Everyone,

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my site. I sure hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the beautiful weather. It has been cooler here recently and a relief from the heat. My brother-in-law lives in Nebraska and he called me for my birthday. He said it was 103 degrees out there for several days and was really hard to deal with.

Kinky-B-Bob, our 17 year old cat is not doing well. A couple weeks ago I took him to our local vet and she assessed he has hyperthyroidism, a bad heart murmur and he has not been able to keep his regular cat food down, plus he is loosing weight. I got all the medicine for him, nausea pills, heart pills, thyroid pills, and a bottle of vitamins. Poor little guy got a reaction to one of them, or all of them and was really spaced out. I never saw a cat hallucinate before! His eyes were totally dilated and he was really stressed out with very labored breathing. I was so worried and scared for him.

Around midnight last Saturday, he finally settled down and slept most of the night. I didn't give him any medicine the next day and by Monday afternoon he was better. I called the vet and told her of his reactions. Because of his advanced age, his little old systems cannot handle all the drugs. So he isn't on anything now. He is getting his regular baby food, tuna fish, and boiled white chicken. He seems to keep all that down, but as soon as he eats his regular cat food, he throws it up within about a half hour. Poor little fellow. We will just see how it goes. He absolutely refuses to eat canned cat food. Won't touch it!

I have been working on a four-part series on domestic violence and abuse for my supervisor at the office. So far one of the articles was published in our local paper, The Free Press Standard, on July 31, 2008. I submitted the second article the other day for August. The next one will be in September, and the last one will be the first of October, as October is "Domestic Violence Month." I sure hope it makes the public aware, and also helps someone dealing with the violence and abuse in their lives.

Despite the lack of rain, the zucchini is flourishing as are the green peppers. I have already frozen beans, and pepper. The tomatoes are ripening, but they are small. Hubby's first corn is on its way out and today we are going to blanch, cut it off and freeze it in bags. The second corn, Candy Corn, (so delicious!) just started coming the other day. We have corn out the wazoo! We are giving some away and eating all we can each night. Hopefully there will be some of the third corn to feed to our company in a couple weeks when my only living Uncle, his wife, my Aunt by marriage, my brother, and my Aunt's niece and her husband come down for a reunion of sorts. I am looking forward to it a lot as my Aunt and Uncle have never been here and they have not seen each other in about 18 years or so.

There is a lot of valuable information on it and also what all we are trying to accomplish. Check out the "Pet Alert's Page" for various things that are harmful to dogs and cats!

Wed. July 2nd, 2008 - The sun is shining!

Hi, Everyone,

Thanks for stopping by and visiting! I appreciate it so much.

I have been really busy with trying to get things done and organized. The CCAPL had a big meeting last night, and after it was all said and done, explained and gone over, the Board of Directors met after the meeting and voted to cancel the Purchase Agreement on the 24 acres we wanted to get. It is disappointing, but because ODOT said we can't put an entrance to the property off of their State Route for safety reason, but instead want us to put an entrance from a side road into the property, (very expensive), we voted not to go ahead with it. One of the contingencies in the P.A. was that approval had to be from the State Highway to put an entrance to the property off of the State Route. We tried. Another property will become available I'm sure. We sure learned a lot in this experience and at least have some concept of what we need to do, have things in order and ready for the next time. Learning lessons. We are all a little more knowledgeable now, and that will be a plus for us in the future.

We had over five inches of rain in our gauge from all of the many storms last week. Just Sunday alone produced at least seven storms. Good grief. I'm going to try and mow the yard today, even though it is still fairly wet. It's either that or hubby will have to get out the brush-hog and do it. We are fortunate we are not in the lower-lying areas as their ground is so saturated it is unreal.

I'm trying to get a book signing at Carnation Mall in Alliance, Ohio, and possibly one in Kentucky. I'll sure let you know when it happens.

Hubby's brother and his two boys are coming in from out west this week. We are looking forward to seeing all of them.

This Saturday I am going to a 91st birthday celebration for my only living Aunt. I will get to see cousins I haven't seen in many years, and also my brother and possibly my only living Uncle from Marietta and his sweet wife.

The following week, my sister, her husband, their daughter from Tenn., and their son will be coming up here for a visit. We haven't seen my nephew for almost five years. He has been living in China. It will be a great reunion and I'm looking forward to it immensely. Then on Saturday, I'm going to my other niece's house for a family get-together. Lots of pictures to take!

Lots to get done today, so I will post ASAP again soon.
